Security Statement

Earthstar Bank's security system encompasses three areas.  The first is Log-In Protection, the requirement that each customer maintain a strictly private password and Log-in ID to which no one but the authorized customer should ever have access.  The second is transmission security, the need to protect data from interception or deciphering by unauthorized agents as it travels between the customer's computer and the Bank. The third is information privacy and integrity, the ability to protect the customer's and the Bank's private information from the unlawful prying by unauthorized people or businesses.

 Log-In Protection

Every customer must privately maintain a combination of password and Log-in ID.  The Bank assigns the original password to the customer. If anyone attempts an unauthorized entry into the customer account by trying to guess a Log-in ID, the Bank will disable the password after repeated attempts, thus invalidating the On-Line combination. If a customer accidentally activates this security feature, he or she would need to call the Bank to re-establish the password for that account.

 Transmission Security

Transmission security begins with the browser software on your personal computer.  All transmissions are secured using an encryption technology known as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which scrambles data into a format that is unreadable by third parties.

Additionally, to insure the identity of both the Bank and customer, Earthstar Bank employs the Verisign Digital ID authentication technology.

 Information Privacy and Protection

Earthstar Bank's Internet banking system operates from a server that is physically separate from the Bank's main computer. A firewall stands between the Internet and the Bank's web server. Internet activity is monitored continually to assure the security of all personal banking information.

The final element of protection is provided by the integrity and technical competence of the Earthstar Bank staff.
